The first milestones of a child’s life are so important to them and their parents. Our team at 2300 Colley Ave. in Norfolk, Virginia 23517 partnered with Hampton Roads Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) to help local parents in poverty celebrate their children’s first birthdays. We bought several materials to provide birthday bags and create beautiful memories for these families.
In addition to providing birthday memories, CHIP is a state-wide organization that takes a holistic approach to help parents focus on the first 2,000 days of a child’s life. They help these parents overcome poverty obstacles through a unique home visitation model that addresses key social concerns, promotes family self-sufficiency, and prepares children for their education. The consolidated South Hampton Roads branch is the largest home visiting program in the state, with a team made entirely of parent educators and registered nurses to help hundreds of families in our area.
If you would like to find out more about their program and how to donate your own birthday bags, look at Volunteer Hampton Roads and the opportunities the events listed within their 45th Annual Hampton Roads Volunteer Achievement Awards & National Volunteer Week Celebration event. The Birthday Bag Assembly opportunity with CHIP of South Hampton Roads has a few remote opportunities available. Contact CHIP for more information.
