Let’s Celebrate Earth Day!

This year, we are celebrating the 49th anniversary of Earth Day! Protect our Species is the theme this year. This recognizes the devastating effects human impact has had on other species. The Earth Day Network states that “the world is facing the greatest rate of extinction since we lost the dinosaurs more than 60 million years ago.” The difference between then and now is the ability to change! There is a ton that we can do to change the damage we have done. This reversibility is key to act now before it is too late.

There are so many species which are endangered or threatened; bees, giraffes, coral reefs, whales, elephants, sea turtles, great apes, and so many more beloved species. Every single one of these animals serves very important functions both to their environments and the world as a whole.
