Total Solar Eclipse 2024

Total Solar Eclipse 2024

The total solar eclipse is just days away, and many people have plans set to see the rare event on Monday, April 8th, as it stretches in totality from Texas to Maine.

While Virginia may not be directly on the path of totality, we should still get quite the spectacle during the eclipse. In the Hampton Roads and Richmond areas (where our stores are located), we should see about an 80-85% eclipse totality around 3:20 PM on April 8th, 2024.

When viewing a total solar eclipse, it’s important not to look directly at the sun. Eclipse viewing glasses or other solar-safe viewing devices (not sunglasses) are needed during the majority of a total solar eclipse. So, try to get your hands on a pair — or create your own eclipse viewer at home.

Also, it might be a good idea to keep your pets indoors, with blinds drawn, so they do not accidentally look up at the sun during the eclipse.

So be prepared, be safe, and have fun watching this very rare event.
