The Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters has worked for over 50 years in the area to provide a unique service: serving the medical and surgical needs of the children in Hampton Roads, Eastern Shore of Virginia, and northeastern North Carolina. This amounts to over 500,000 children under the age of 21, 200,000 of which will be served by the premier healthcare services provider. This is achieved significantly by their founding organization, the King’s Daughters. Every year, the CHKD holds its annual fundraiser called the Anthem LemonAid, which aims to help kids with cancer. They work with community partners who sell lemonade to community members for a donation of $1. All proceeds go to CHKD to provide high-quality children’s health services. COVID-19 has presented some challenges, but none that this healthcare services provider can’t handle!
This year, the Anthem LemonAid fundraiser has gone virtual with different online challenges. If you are interested and able to help, you can safely set up a fundraising account online to promote your efforts! You can promote your page through their challenges. There are two challenges left; the Put the Squeeze on Cancer Lemon Challenge and the Paint Away Cancer Art Challenge. To participate in the Lemon Challenge, post a picture or video on your social media of you biting into a lemon by 12:00 PM on August 15th. To participate in the Art Challenge, post a picture you made that creatively incorporates a lemon by 12:00 PM on August 14th. For more details, visit their event page HERE.
