We all have them, those areas of our homes that end up looking more like a dumping ground than the orderly space they should be. Luckily, there are easy solutions to these common problem areas. Fix up your house before Spring with these helpful tips today!
Kitchen Drawers
Every lived-in kitchen has at least one drawer that holds all the large and odd-shaped cooking utensils. Ladles, cheese graters, pizza cutters, rolling pins, spatulas, and other miscellaneous tools were all dumped into one drawer to become a jumbled mess. To get this drawer orderly, you have to get your items organized and easily seen when you open the drawers. Use wide-mouthed mason jars to stack your utensils. Stick the handle of your spatulas and other long-stemmed items into the jars to keep them from getting tangled. Fit any odd-shaped items in stacks, and place them along the walls and into any empty spaces.
Garage
Your garage is either completely organized or a big mess. There is no in-between. The quickest way to organize your things is to block off where you cannot store items. First, keep your things away from the center and off the ground. Use any shelves, pegboards, cabinets, or any hanging units to maximize the garage space. This can help you let go of any aspects that are no longer useful to you.
Closets
Did you know that we wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time? Bestselling author and professional organizer Peter Walsh made those estimates, and it can really help when you go through the mess that sits in the closet. Get your clothes from the ground to the clothes rack by getting rid of the clothes you do not need. If you haven’t worn it in a year, then you probably never will again. Shed yourself of the clothes you don’t need, and keeping the ones you love will help start your day off right when you get dressed in the mornings.
