Cord Organization Tips

Cords and wires and cables oh my! Possibly the most unsightly materials in your house, these can cause serious walking and electricity hazards if not organized properly. Here are some simple tips from How To Geek to keep your wires safe and out of sight.

Unplug all cords when reorganizing. This makes it easier to move the power strip around.

Mount the power strip to the underside of a desk or flatly to a wall. Most strips have holes in the back that you can slip the screw heads into.

As you plug the cables back in, wrap the excess with velcro straps or zip ties to keep the cords close to the outlet and off of the floor. This can be done by either making loops or bunching the cord together.

Use masking tape and a sharpie to create labels for each cord. This is really necessary for those who find themselves plugging and unplugging certain cords often.

These are some basic tools to use when organizing disarrayed cables in the home. Check back for more great tips!
