In welcoming 2023, we look back at what we accomplished in 2022. Mini Price Storage is committed to giving back to the communities in which we live and work. Each year, we participate in various events in the areas we operate in: South Hampton Roads, Virginia Peninsula, Greater Richmond, and Prince William. Here are just a few highlights from some of the events we participated in during 2022!
Habitat for Humanity Restore Volunteering
Our Richmond team leaders gathered to volunteer at the nonprofit thrift store, Habitat for Humanity Restore. Known for building homes across the globe, Habitat for Humanity operates its thrift store to fund its future housing projects. Community members donate furniture and appliances sorted and sold to the public. Our team enjoyed giving back to their community in a meaningful way.
VBSPCA Wags & Whiskers Gala
The Virginia Beach Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (VBSPCA) holds multiple events year-round to fund its efforts, including its Wags & Whiskers Gala. This past April’s event grew since 1989 when it was a local celebrity and pet fashion show. Now, it has become the biggest fundraising event for the VBSPCA, with carnival games, live entertainment, and a silent auction, among other things. Our Virginia Beach teams sponsored this event to protect the shelter house’s animals.
Volunteering with StreetLight
The Prince William area of Virginia contains over 400 people experiencing homelessness. Sadly, there aren’t enough resources to support this population. The StreetLight Community Outreach Ministries was established in 2004 to serve this often ignored population. One of their life-saving services includes their food pantry. Our Woodbridge team donated their time to distribute food for a few hours to their community in this rewarding experience.
United Way Feminine Hygiene Drive
The United Way of the Virginia Peninsula started its feminine hygiene drive with an online campaign where they collected over 360 items over two months. This year, with the help of individual and corporate supporters such as our Mini Price Storage Williamsburg team, the United Way surpassed its goal of 500 items with about 1,500 items in tow! These donations went toward women and girls of all ages experiencing poverty.Having the opportunity to make such a significant impact on our community members was extremely rewarding for our company.
Mayflower Marathon Donation
This year, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore held its 26th annual Mayflower Marathon Food Drive in one November weekend. Our South Hampton Roads teams donated food for the food bank. With contributions across this massive region, the Foodbank collected nearly 280,000 pounds of food! This event gives Thanksgiving meals to local families who wouldn’t be able to provide them during this holiday. We are proud to donate to this cause every year and continue helping our neighbors in the best ways possible.
We accomplished a lot in 2022, and we can’t wait to see what we’ll do in 2023! What events do you want to see us get involved in?
