Library at South Morrison Family Education Center, accepts a
donation of books from Julie Butts, business development
manager for Mini Price Storage.
Hundreds of free books for all ages were given away on Saturday, Nov. 3, by the Library at South Morrison Family Education Center in Newport News, VA. The book giveaway was a part of the SoMo Community Family Day.
Mini Price Storage collected and donated over 1,000 books to the Newport News Public Library System to be used as giveaways. Mini Price Storage locations collected books in their facilities, collaborated with local apartment communities to collect gently used children’s books and communicated to local businesses through the Peninsula Women’s Network and to the public through a website blog.
“Mini Price Storage understands the value of literacy and the joy that comes from reading,” said Julie Butts, business development manager for Mini Price Storage, who coordinated the book drive. “It opens up learning, the imagination and opportunity. It was a pleasure to give back to our community in a meaningful way.”
In addition to the donation from Mini Price Storage, other books for giveaway came from Newport News Public Libraries donations and the non-profit group First Book.
