With cold and flu season upon us, it is no surprise that this week is National Hand Washing Awareness Week! Last year, influenza took a record-breaking amount of lives. 80,000 died in 2018 while the previous high was at 56,000 over 30 years ago. Now more than ever, we need to prevent the common cold as much as we can.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, washing your hands is one of the easiest and most effective ways to prevent the spread of diseases. Wash your hands before, during, and most importantly after dealing with food for humans or animals, going to the bathroom, or helping others use the toilet, treating a wound, or coughing, sneezing, and blowing your nose.
Washing your hands is very easy to do! Just remember wash, lather, scrub, rinse and dry. Lathering and scrubbing are the most important steps. Lather over the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails then hum the happy birthday song twice to really make sure the soap is doing its work.
When clean, running water is not available, hand sanitizer works great. And, with that thought in mind and in tandem with National Hand Washing Week, we are giving our customers free hand sanitizers spray pens, while supplies last! Stop by one of our locations and grab your own!
