The United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg has created a Cards of Encouragement program to serve senior citizens across central Virginia. They teamed up with different organizations to provide cards for senior citizens in the area. COVID-19 has been an especially stressful and lonely time for senior citizens. Not only are they at a much higher risk of getting the coronavirus, but they also have not been able to see their families in a long time. These handwritten cards go a long way to improve their overall mood and contribute to a greater outlook on life for themselves.
This month, our Richmond team gathered at our facility on Call Federal Drive to partner with their efforts. We wrote several cards for their Chesterfield campaign, the Chesterfield’s Citizen Information and Resource’s Letters of Love campaign. The cards we made will be distributed across senior homes throughout the city to remind them that we are all in this together, and this period will end. We are all being affected in these trying times, and it is important to reach out to those struggling next to us.
