On Saturday, June 20, the United Way of South Hampton Roads, in partnership with the Grace Bible Church – Lynnhaven campus, served their neighbors experiencing need. Here, they have partnered with several other local groups such as Operation Blessing, REACH Reading Enriches All Children, Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, and La Selecta 103.3 FM/1050 AM just to name a few. All of these groups donated their weekend to sort through donations and distribute to those who need them most. These donations consisted of essential resources such as groceries, diapers, and toiletries and serviced anyone who came for the drive. Additionally, the Virginia Department of Health was onsite to deliver COVID testing.
COVID-19 has pulled us closer together, and we, like many in our community, are looking for opportunities to help others. It was American writer, Margaret J. Wheatley, who said, “There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.” Our very own Tandra C. from our Sewell’s Point location, recognized the significant impact of this drive and volunteered her time to support their efforts! We are so proud to have a team with a strong dedication to our community and philanthropy.
