WE ARE VB has worked to aid the homeless, at-risk high school students in Virginia Beach. Over the past two years, this group has grown from a single pilot program in First Colonial High School into many programs that serve hundreds of students in over ten Virginia Beach schools! They can do all that they do with their long-term programs and emergency assistance programs. Their programs include in-school pantries, mentoring, senior experiences, school stipends, emergency requests-response, and even mattress distributions. In addition to these programs, WE ARE VB has created FUEL UP, which holds community food drives from time-to-time.
Yesterday, FUEL UP held it’s first food drive of the school year at Cox High School. After reading about the impact WE ARE VB has for at-risk high school students, we decided to participate. We were fortunate enough to help a family with a week’s worth of groceries. They are holding another food drive in late October outside of Kempsville High School. If this sounds like something you would like to support, visit their Facebook to find more details as we move into October.
