January is a month of goal setting and resolutions. Individuals and businesses engage in strategy sessions on how to improve, how to get better. January is also the month Mini Price Storage looks for opportunities to give back in meaningful ways to our communities in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a national holiday observed on the third Monday of the month in honor of the lifetime accomplishments of Dr. King. Inspired by Mahatma Ghandi, Dr. King was a non-violent activist best known for the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil activism. In 1964, he received the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in this area. Prior to his assassination in 1968, Dr. King expanded his reach as a non-violent activist and leader to address the concerns of poverty and the Vietnam Conflict.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day has only been a Federal holiday since 1986. The day is traditionally recognized as a day to serve. Mini Price expands on this idea by looking for opportunities to serve throughout the early months of the year. Last year, our employees volunteered service to help out Habitat for Humanity, Union Mission and Meals on Wheels. This year, we’ll dedicate time and resources to help The Dwelling Place, The Breakthrough Center, and St. Joseph’s Villa. At Mini Price Storage, we believe in giving back to our communities and hope you’ll be inspired to do the same.
